Junk Removal Pricing

Every price includes loading, hauling, and disposal. You’re not renting a trailer and doing the work yourself—our crew shows up, loads everything, hauls it away, and handles disposal. You point, we lift. No hidden fees.

Junk Removal Urbandale

Straightforward Pricing

Junk removal cost comes down to a few simple things: how much space your items take up in the trailer, how much they weigh, what kind of items they are, and whether anything needs special disposal. We break items down to maximize space and donate what’s still usable whenever possible, so you get the most out of your load before anything goes to the landfill.

Most jobs in the Des Moines metro fall into one of the four load sizes below. Prices are flat and easy to understand, and we always confirm your final price before any work begins—there are no surprises when the trailer is full.

Full-Service JUNK REMOVAL Pricing

Minimum Load

$150

Got a small amount to clear out? Our minimum load covers loading, hauling, and disposal fees.

Small Trailer

$300

Ideal for a room cleanout, garage purge, or a few large items.

Includes full-service loading, hauling, and disposal up to 1 ton (2,000 lbs).* We break down furniture and bulky items to fit as much as possible. Donatable items go to local organizations before the landfill.*

Medium Trailer

$550

Includes loading, hauling, and disposal up to 1 ton (2,000 lbs).* We break everything down to maximize space and sort for donations before disposal.*

Large Trailer

$850

For the big stuff – full estate cleanouts, major renovations, or years of accumulated junk.

Our large trailer service includes all loading, hauling, and disposal up to 1 ton (2,000 lbs).* We break down items to get every cubic foot out of the trailer and donate what we can before heading to the landfill.*

*Disposal fees are included up to 1 ton (2,000 lbs). Loads exceeding this weight may be subject to additional charges, confirmed before disposal.

*Donation of items is subject to availability and acceptance by local donation centers. Not all items are eligible for donation.

*Final pricing is confirmed on-site prior to the start of work. Quoted price may vary if load size or weight differs significantly from estimate.

What’s Included in the Price?

Richie Bros Junk Removal is a full-service junk hauling company. You never have to load a trailer, rent a dumpster, or make a landfill run. Every job includes:

  • Loading: Our crew carries everything out and loads it, wherever it sits.
  • Hauling: We transport the full load away the same visit.
  • Disposal: Landfill and transfer station fees for standard items are built in.
  • Item breakdown: We disassemble items when possible to maximize trailer space and keep your cost down.
  • Donation attempts: Usable furniture and household items go to local donation centers before the landfill.
  • Cleanup: When appropriate, we sweep or tidy the cleared area before we leave.

What Changes Junk Removal Cost?

How Much Junk You Have

Volume is the biggest factor. Junk removal is mostly priced by how much space your items take up in the trailer.

Weight

Trailer prices cover up to 1 ton (2,000 lbs) of disposal. Most household loads stay well under that, but heavy materials like concrete, dirt, shingles, or dense construction debris can push a load over the limit and add to the cost.

Specialty Disposal Items

Landfills and transfer stations charge us extra to process certain items safely. Because of this, there is an additional surcharge for appliances (fridges, freezers, washers/dryers), paint cans, tires, and hazardous chemicals.

Mattresses & Box Springs

Standard pricing covers up to 4 mattresses or box springs. After the fourth, the landfill hits us with an extra fee, which we pass through at cost.

Difficult Access

A pile sitting right on your driveway or curb is a fast load. If our crew needs to navigate three flights of stairs, carry heavy items out of a tight crawlspace, or walk across a massive acreage property, the extra time and safety precautions required may adjust the rate.

If you’re not sure whether something on your list costs extra, just ask when you call or text. We’ll give you a straight answer before the job starts.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I know which trailer size I need?

The fastest way is to snap a couple of photos of your junk pile and text them to us. We can usually give you an accurate estimate right over the phone. As a general rule of thumb: a couple of loose items is a Minimum Load, an individual room or packed garage corner is a Small/Medium, and an entire house worth of furniture requires a Large Trailer.

Are standard disposal and landfill fees built into the price?

Yes. For standard household goods, clutter, and furniture, the dump fees are fully covered in your flat-rate price. You only pay extra if you have heavy aggregate debris (like concrete) or specialty items that landfills charge extra for (like paint or refrigerators).

Do you handle light demolition, like old sheds, hot tubs, or decks?

Yes! Beyond standard junk hauling, we can tear down and haul away old backyard sheds, worn-out decks, and hot tubs. Because these require specific tools and safety equipment, we quote demolition projects individually rather than by our standard trailer sizes.

Do you actually clean up after you’re done loading?

We do. Once our crew has cleared out your items, we do a sweep-down of the immediate area (like your driveway, garage floor, or patio) so you’re left with nothing but clean, open space.
